About me
Enjoying a wide range of music, I am confident playing, reading and improvising in most musical styles from classical to jazz on electric bass, double bass, synth bass and ukulele bass. I am a versatile and adaptable musician at home in any situation from a classical orchestra to a theatre pit to a funk gig. On electric bass I studied with Neil Harland for three years at Newcastle College and studied classical double bass with Jim Bickel for 8 years. I am also a fully qualified lecturer (Cert. Ed) with a 1st class Bmus (Hons) in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music from Sunderland University. I am very proud to have then lectured on the final years of the fantastic BMus (Hons) Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music degree at Sunderland University before it closed in 2019. Currently I’m working closely with a number of fantastic original projects – ‘HAV’ (Pol Polls Records), Slowlight Quartet (Jazz Sound Records), ‘The Rubber Wellies’ (Hot Drop Records), Giles Strong Quartet (Jazz Sound Records), and Plobtr0n (Obelosk Productions) along with lots of remote recording and some production.
Recent remote bass recordings
These recent singles on electric bass, double bass and synth bass were recorded remotely in my home studio (“Wingroove Studio”) and sent over to the producers for mixing.
I have 20 years experience of recording / performing / producing and you’ll hear from all of the tracks on this website that I can create musical and professional sounding / recorded bass parts.
